Entry Requirements

Essential: C pass or better in English or Drama at Higher. In the case of mature students we may accept relevant theatrical experience as a sufficient entry requirement alongside a successful audition. All applicants are invited to audition and decisions on entry are based on the quality of performance and potential to develop on the course. The audition process will require you to prepare and perform two contrasting monologues; one classical e.g. Shakespeare and one contemporary. This will be followed by a short interview. Candidates will also be asked to provide a short written critique of a theatrical production that they have attended recently.

Description

This course concentrates on the development of skills required for a career in the Acting and Performance sector. As a way of practicing and developing the necessary creative skills, students will get the opportunity to explore both devising techniques and a variety of textual genres. Candidates will also be required to perform in a minimum of three public performances throughout the two year session.

Course topics include: - Acting - Voice - Movement - Production - Physical Theatre - Theatre Styles - Text and Performance - Creating Devised Theatre - Leading a Workshop - Professional Development - Graded Unit.

Duration

Full Time. 2 Academic Years. August - June. 16 Hours per Week. Applicants wishing to study on a part-time basis will be considered and should provide information on this in their personal statement and at interview.
