Course Description

The specific aims of this award are to give an introduction to the catering and hospitality industry. Candidates will develop a range of catering and service skills and techniques within a realistic kitchen and restaurant working environment where team work will be required. The award encourages personal development to help prepare candidates for future study or their chosen career path while developing core skills through communication and ICT learning.

Course Content

Course topics include: - Introduction to Food Preparation Techniques - Introduction to Cookery Processess - Introduction to Craft Bakery - Working Safely in the Hospitality Industry - Food and Beverages services: Counter - Food and Beverage services: Table - Hospitality: Introduction to Events - Hospitality: Organisation of Practical Skills - Communications, ICT and Numeracy - High level of working with customers, colleagues and the public .

Duration

Full Time. 1 Academic Year. August - June.

NC Professional Cookery: Level 5. Employment within the catering and hotel industry.
