Description

Would you like to work as a chef in a professional kitchen? Are you interested in events catering? This course could be perfect for you. It could help you secure the job you want or could be the starting point for higher study! This course is an excellent qualification if you wish to pursue a career working in a professional kitchen and is an opportunity to build upon the skills already developed in previous study. The course gives you the opportunity to enhance your skills in preparation, cookery and presentation. You will develop your creativity and repertoire by producing a wide variety of dishes, from savoury to patisserie in our modern training kitchens. The course is designed to give you the opportunity to learn the practical industry skills and theoretical knowledge required to work in a professional kitchen. On completion of this course, you could progress onto employment as a Commis Chef, Chef De Partie, Chef/trainee chef, or other role within the sector, or onto further study. This course is the prefect step to prepare you for various employment opportunities on a local, national or international setting.

Course topics include: - Food hygiene - Beverage product knowledge - Integrated restaurant service - Restaurant food production and menu planning - Food product knowledge - Patisserie, meat and poultry 2 - Fish and shellfish - Creative cookery - Employability skills - Communications, ICT and Numeracy

Full Time. 1 Academic Year. August – June.

HNC Professional Cookery, employment in a professional kitchen which could include as a chef/ trainee chef, commis chef, employment in a café or bistro, a Front of House role, or a range of other roles within the Hospitality and Catering industry
