Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for the course, however an interest in computing and further study is beneficial. For applicants were English is not their first language a National 5 ESOL (or equivalent) is required. Applicants without formal qualifications, but who have relevant work experience, are encouraged to apply.

The Introduction to Computing allows you to gain skills and confidence in building and programming a robot. The course is an ideal first step into Computing; introducing you to the essential skills required for employment and/or further study. The course will also equip you with the skills to repair and refurbish computers. Our National Qualification (NQ) in Computing can do just that The course is an ideal opportunity to experience an introduction into Computer Games Development Computing is at the heart of everything we do and offers many types of lucrative careers.

Course Content

Course units include: - Robotics - Software Development - Multimedia - Computer hardware - Computer software - Refurbishing and Recycling Computers - Study Skills - Employment Skills - Communication Skills - Working in a project team This course is a good entry level into Computing and develops the skills to have the potential to progress to further study in the computing sector. The course also includes a National Progression Award (NPA) in Computer Refurbishment

Full Time. 1 Academic Year. August - June.

Successful completion allows progression to our NQ Computing level 5
